For those who are deaf or very hard of hearing, and are unable to use a telephone, what alternative means (text / email) are there to call the crisis centre? Or is this particular service restricted to those with good hearing?
Response
For British Sign Language (BSL) users, SignVideo can be used to make and receive calls and to attend face-to-face meetings with an interpreter. A link to the SignVideo service is provided on the webpage referenced.
Contact via email is also supported.
If a person is already known to mental health services, a direct contact number can be provided for text messaging.
The Crisis and Assessment Team are currently exploring the option of using Relay UK.
