Summary
The draft Carbon Neutral Roadmap builds on the progress made through the Pathway 2050: An Energy Plan for Jersey and supersedes the Carbon Neutral Strategy 2019.
The draft Carbon Neutral Roadmap outlines the proposed policies to start our journey to net-zero. Policies come under four main categories:
- transport
- heating, cooking and cooling
- other on and off-island emissions
- enabling policies.
The draft Carbon Neutral Roadmap focuses on the steps that need to be taken from 2022 to 2026. Future governments will also have to set out plans to go further in the future.
The draft Roadmap has been based on the lots of ideas gathered from islanders, along with detailed technical studies and the recommendations of the Citizens Assembly on Climate Change, which randomly selected 45 people in Jersey to come together and discuss these issues. It is underpinned by an evidence base of reports.
