Subject: Jersey College for Girls (“JCG”) and Jersey College Preparatory (“JCP”) - Approval of fees for the academic year 2018-2019. |
Decision(s): The Minister approved the fees for the 2018-19 academic year proposed by the governing body of JCG (£1,822 per term) and JCP (£1,761 per term), an increase of 5% and 7% respectively. He further agreed that, in accordance with Financial Direction 4.1 “Increases in States Fees and Charges”, the Minister for Treasury and Resources should be requested to endorse the fee increases for JCG and JCP. |
Reason(s) for Decision: To meet the requirements of Article 13a of the Education (Jersey) Law 1999 which requires that the fees set by the respective governing body are approved by the Minister. |
Resource Implications: The fee increase for JCG is forecast to result in additional income of £64,000 for 2018 and £256,000 for 2019 (based on an indicative fee increase of 5% for the academic year 2019-2020). The fee increase for JCP is forecast to result in additional income of circa £43,000 for 2018 and £175,000 for 2019 (based on an indicative fee increase of 7% for the academic year 2019-2020). |
Action required: In accordance with Financial Direction 4.1 “Increases in States Fees and Charges”, to request the approval of the Treasurer of the States, under delegated authority, for the fees in respect of Jersey College for Girls and Jersey College Preparatory to be increased by more than 2.5%. To advise the governing body that the Minister has approved the increase in fees. |
