Lateral flow tests (LFT) are a fast, simple and effective way to test people who do not have symptoms of COVID-19, but who may still be spreading the virus. If people test positive and self-isolate, it helps to stop the virus spreading.
All islanders are advised to perform a LFT twice a week (every 3 to 4 days) to check if you have the virus. It's also a good idea to take a LFT at particular times like before visiting an elderly or vulnerable friend or relative, or if you are planning to attend an event or large gathering.
You can do regular lateral flow tests if you do not have symptoms of COVID-19.
If you have one or more symptoms of COVID-19 you must:
- isolate immediately, and away from other members of your household if this is possible
-
book a PCR test using the online form or call the helpline
Islanders of any age can register to receive LFTs at home by signing up to the Home Testing Programme.
Register for home testing
Each member of a household must register as an individual to receive their own kit. You'll be sent an email and text message with an 8-digit unique code to log in and submit results. Kits will be delivered by Jersey Post within a week of registering.
If you have previously registered, you can order more LFTs using your 8-digit code. These kits should be reordered no sooner than 14 days from the previous kits issued.
Results will be invalid if read after the 15 minute window.
You should upload any positive results to the online portal to ensure any isolation period is dated from your LFT result.
Negative results do not have to be routinely uploaded, except as part of the release from isolation process.
The results get automatically uploaded to our public health system. The Covid Safe Team is alerted when there is a positive result.
Submit your test result
Your LFT kit will be sent to your registered home address. You will receive enough kits to test yourself twice a week for 10 weeks.
Reordering more test kits
You can order more lateral flow testing kit using your 8 digit code. These kits should be reordered no sooner than 14 days from the previous kits issued.
Re-order more test kits
Taking a lateral flow test involves taking a sample from the nostrils using a swab.
We supply different types of test kits that have different processes. Make sure you read the instructions that come with your test kit.
Negative
| One line next to C shows the test is negative

| A negative result means that active coronavirus infection was not detected, at the time of the test. However, this does not guarantee that you do not have coronavirus.
You can maintain normal activities, but should continue to follow the
current public health guidance
If you develop any symptoms, isolate immediately and
book a PCR test.

Inconclusive
| No lines, or one line next to T, means the test is inconclusive
