International Women's Day

This year's theme - #pressforprogress

International Women's Day falls on Thursday 8 March 2018. This year's theme focuses on press for progress. The World Economic Forum's 2017 Global Gender Gap Report findings show that gender parity is still over 200 years away. There's never been a more important time to keep motivated and #pressforprogress.

How you can celebrate and inspire women

There are many ways in which you can celebrate International Women's Day. You can find out more on the International Women's Day website.

We would love to see your celebrations on social media using the #pressforprogress.

What is happening at States of Jersey

Some of the women in our Information Services Department have organised:

  • a school assembly to showcase our female employees and inspire young women into digital careers
  • a 6k-a-day challenge to raise money for women's charities
  • to wear purple for the day
  • prizes for an inspirational woman
  • a raffle to raise money for women's charities

We have also put together a leaflet with details on some of the women from Information Services including their roles. There is also advice for people who are looking at a career in the digital sector.

States of Jersey Police have invited schoolgirls from across the Island to Police Headquarters on Thursday 8 March. 60 children will have the chance to ask questions of a panel of women from the Police and have a tour of the building.
