Is Jersey a great place to grow up?

25 June 2010

Islanders are being invited to have their say and help shape Jersey’s first ever Children and Young People Plan at the first of 2 public meetings planned so people can have their say.

The Plan, which has been commissioned by the States of Jersey’s Children’s Policy Group, will set out priorities for the services that affect the experiences and life chances of our Island’s children and young people. This includes States services, such as education and health, as well as those provided by many of the Island’s charities.

Deputy Anne Pryke, Chair of the Children’s Policy Group said “We want the Plan to reflect what Islanders think is important so we are asking them to tell us what needs to be done to ensure that Jersey is a great place to grow up.

“To get the ball rolling we’re organising 2 public consultation sessions over the coming few weeks. These are open to everyone. In addition, we are also undertaking some more focused consultation with particular groups of young people or those with special needs or interests. This will help us develop a first draft of the Plan. Then, in October 2010, we undertake a second round of consultation providing Islanders with another opportunity to tell us what they think.”

The public meetings are on:

  • Wednesday 30 June from 7pm to 8.30pm at Trinity Parish Hall, La Rue du Presbytere, in Trinity
  • Thursday 15 July from 7pm to 8.30pm at St Clement’s Parish Hall, Le Hocq, in St Clement
