French Harbour boardwalk construction begins

11 October 2018

The construction of the French Harbour boardwalk, a new cycle track which will provide a link for the routes from the west of the island to Havre Des Pas, begins on Monday 15 October 2018.

The project is anticipated to take approximately five months because the work is being undertaken in a historically-important area and because tides will occasionally restrict the working hours. The proposed working hours will be 7.30am to 6pm from Monday to Friday, and 7.30am to 1pm on Saturdays (no work is permitted on Sundays or Bank Holidays).

Throughout the project, the northbound lane of Le Quai aux Marchands will be closed and temporary traffic lights will be in place. Access to the slipway at the French Harbour will be maintained.

The project supports the States’ Sustainable Transport Policy objectives of reducing the island’s reliance on private cars; encouraging walking, cycling and public transport use; and increasing levels of physical activity.
