Industrial action advice

06 December 2018

Officers are working to minimise the impact of the proposed industrial action by civil servants tomorrow (Friday 7 December) from 9am to 11am. While it is difficult to predict what the impact of the strike will be, officers across the States of Jersey are working to make sure essential services can still be carried out safely and efficiently.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the department for Children, Young People, Education and Skills explained that head teachers have written to parents and carers to explain how their child’s school will be affected tomorrow. More information about how schools and nurseries will be affected is available on the States web pages.

The Health and Community Services department is asking islanders who would normally attend for routine blood tests at the hospital to wait until next week. The phlebotomy service is open on Fridays between 9.30am and 12 noon but the laboratories where specimens are processed will be closed tomorrow morning, except for emergencies.

If any other departments/services are affected by tomorrow’s action, updates will be issued on gov.je and social media.

To ensure that departments can provide the best possible service, it is recommended that customers with non-urgent enquiries visit departments after 11am.

The States of Jersey regrets the impact that the strike will have on some of its services, but acknowledges the right of employees to take industrial action.
