Replacement lifts for two car parks

12 January 2018

The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) will be replacing the centre lift in Sand Street multi-storey car park and the lift in Green Street car park.

Work will start on Monday 15 January to replace the two lifts and will continue over a 16-week period.

In Sand Street car park there will still be one lift in operation.

In Green Street, the stairs are the only option so DfI is advising any customer who has to use a lift for access to use an alternative car park.

The lifts are 45 years old and inspections have indicated they need to be replaced. The work is being undertaken concurrently for efficiency reasons.

The next lift to be replaced in the programme will be the one in Pier Road multi-storey car park and this will start in early March.

The costs of this lift replacement programme are covered by the income from parking charges.
