Since the issue of this news release the information has been updated and can be found on Applying for an Indian visa for Jersey citizens (gov.je)

The Government of Jersey has been working closely with the Indian High Commission to resolve the issue that some Islanders are experiencing when applying for Indian e-visas.

Information has been made available online detailing the advice for Jersey residents.

Senior External Relations officer, Bradley Jones, said: “The Government of Jersey has made the HM Passport Office aware of the issue and will continue to support the work of the relevant UK and Indian authorities to help resolve this matter as quickly as possible.”

Jersey residents with a ‘Bailiwick of Jersey’ variant British Passport should follow this advice:

  1. do not apply for an e-visa
  2. do not use third parties to apply for a visa on your behalf
  3. make a Regular / Paper application on the official Indian Government visa website
  4. on the website, select the option in the bottom left hand corner: Regular / Paper application
  5. you can then fill in the details – for Mission, select UK-London, and then on all relevant dropdown items on the form, choose UNITED KINGDOM or BRITISH rather than Jersey, and in the box for Citizenship / ID, put UK
  6. once the form is completed, make the payment online (by debit card only), print out your application and courier or post it to the visa office in Hounslow, London (with your passport and two passport photos attached). The address is;

    Indian Visa and Consular Application Centre
    The Vista Centre
    First Floor – Part A Block50 Salisbury Road
    Hounslow
    TW4 6JQ
  7. payment must cover the full visa fee, including service fee and courier fee. Payment can be made either online (debit card only) or by postal order payable to VF Services (UK) Ltd.
  8. the visa office will courier the passport and visa to you once it is approved. Incomplete applications will be returned without processing
  9. allow as much time as you can for the process

If you have any difficulties paying online for your visa, please call the India visa office to make arrangements for payment.
