Gorey Coast Road resurfacing

19 February 2019

Leaflets are being distributed in four parishes this week to let residents know that essential resurfacing work to Gorey Coast Road will begin on Monday, 4 March.

The work will start at the hairpin bend by Gorey Pier and progress in sections towards the road’s junction with Beach Road. The sections will be closed to traffic on weekdays between 8.30am and 6pm, and there will be lane closures at weekends from 9am to 6pm. The work is expected to be completed by 22 March, depending on weather conditions.

The signed diversion routes include temporary one-way systems and have been designed to ensure traffic runs smoothly by avoiding congestion and maintaining road safety.

Parking along Gorey Coast Road will be suspended, and bus routes will terminate at Longbeach Carpark from where there will be a free shuttle bus to Gorey Pier and St Catherine. Access to Gorey Pier will be maintained at all times, for the first week via Gorey Coast Road, and for the remaining three weeks from Mont de Gouray. Businesses affected will be provided with more details of the planned phases, and ‘business as usual’ signs will be erected.

The work will be completed in phases so that access to premises can be maintained and, although there will short periods when access is affected, residents and businesses will be notified before it happens.

The leaflets, which are being distributed to residents in St Martin, Grouville, St Saviour and St Clement, explain the timetable and diversions.

Islanders will also be able to get regular updates on gov.je and by the Government of Jersey’s social media. Information on affected services and shuttle buses will be detailed on LibertyBus’ social media and on libertybus.je.
