Young people still have time to sign up for the Prince’s Trust Jersey’s outdoor adventure programme, which aims to help improve confidence, communication and teamwork.
The Get Started Outdoor Adventure, which starts next week, is open to those aged between 16 and 25 who are not in employment, education or training.

The week-long programme begins on Monday, 17 August and offers a range of activities including paddle boarding, coasteering, high ropes and a beach clean to support the local community.

Rina Rodrigues (18) who joined Prince’s Trust Jersey in 2019 and is now an ambassador for the programme, said: “Whilst on the programme, I learnt a lot about myself and took part in many activities that was out of my comfort zone. I learnt a lot about how to deal with my mental health in a positive way and it is something I am very passionate about.

“I am now currently working full-time at a leisure centre and have been since June 2019. I enjoy working with children and helping others. I hope to progress my way up in the business for the future.”

Jo Dove, Youth Worker with the Prince’s Trust, added: “The Prince's Trust Jersey works with young people aged between 16 and 25 who are not in employment, education or training. It gives young people from a variety of backgrounds the opportunity to develop themselves, work as a team, improve their confidence and communication, as well as to learn new skills.

“We offer support for participants in their future aspirations, whether this is employment or education, and do so in a relaxed and informal learning environment. We work in small groups to ensure young people can work to achieve their individual goals.”

To find out more about the programme or to sign-up to next week’s scheme please contact Jo Dove on jodove@jys.je or call 07797758287.
