New support for wellbeing

06 April 2020

The Government of Jersey is working with local partners to help empower Islanders to use their time well while Stay at Home measures are in effect.

The ‘Hometime’ Facebook community group will share information, guidance and advice from Mind Jersey, Durrell, Digital Jersey, and a range of health and wellbeing providers. Each week the content will focus on a different theme, including health and wellbeing, learning and Island heritage.

The group is open to the public on Facebook. Members can share content that they think will help other people to stay healthy and well.

Alexandra Shears, Director of Communications and Fundraising at Durrell, said: “While Jersey Zoo has closed its doors to the public, the work of Durrell doesn’t stop, and we want to help Islanders keep up-to-date with our animals.

“We’ll be providing resources to educate, inspire and entertain people at home, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at what our keepers are doing.”

James Le Feuvre, from Mind Jersey, said; “Coronavirus has plunged the world into uncertainty and the constant news about the pandemic may well be taking its toll on people’s mental health.

“While we’re continuing to maintain most of our services over telephone, WhatsApp and video conferencing, we’re delighted to be working with the Government of Jersey to help more people access services, so they can stay mentally well in the coming weeks.”
