New digital health app library launches

30 May 2023

The Government has partnered with an external organisation to create an app library for Islanders to help choose the best health and wellbeing app for them.

The Organisation for the Review of Care and Health Apps (ORCHA) reviews, assesses, and tests apps designed to help people with their health and wellbeing. Through the app library, Islanders can find apps to access information on general health and wellbeing and to manage their own conditions and lifestyle changes, such as smoking, staying active, mental health management, and nutritional advice.

The apps that are available have been assessed by ORCHA against 350 standards including stringent data protection and clinical safety measures. ORCHA has worked with 70% of NHS regions in the UK to deliver health libraries and has also worked with other government organisations across the world.

Director of Public Health, Professor Peter Bradley, said: “This is a fantastic project that will empower and support Islanders in managing their own health and wellbeing. Islanders will have opportunities to find and compare a variety of health apps, with the assurance that they are secure and safe to use while meeting clinical safety standards, allowing them the choice to find the solution that best suit their needs.

“I’d like to thank ORCHA for their help in building this new initiative and making it easier for Islanders to live healthier lives.” Islanders can access the library online.
