The Superintendent Registrar is inviting applications for up to three independent civil celebrants
to conduct secular wedding ceremonies in Jersey.
This is a unique opportunity for individuals with strong public speaking skills, a deep
appreciation for the significance of marriage, and a solid understanding of Jersey’s marriage
laws.
Superintendent Registrar, Claire Follain, said: “This is an opportunity to take on a varied and
interesting role. We want couples who are getting married in Jersey to have a wide choice of civil
celebrant, whilst being assured that the celebrant will have the skills, knowledge and
commitment to deliver a wonderful wedding ceremony in accordance with the law.”
Civil celebrants are self-employed but regulated by the Superintendent Registrar, and it is
against the law to solemnise a marriage in Jersey unless authorised to do so by the
Superintendent Registrar.
Applicants will undergo a three-stage selection process:
- Application with CV and a business plan.
- Interview and presentation.
- A two-day training session in early December 2025 followed by a one-day practical
examination.
Interested individuals should complete the application form available at: gov.je.
Applications should include:
- A completed application form
- A current CV
- An outline of their business plan
- A covering letter explaining your interest in the role.
Submissions can be sent via email to SIR@gov.je or posted to: Claire Follain, Superintendent
Registrar, Office of the Superintendent Registrar, 25 New Street, St Helier JE2 3RA.
The deadline for applications is Friday 24 October 2025.
