The Government of Jersey has confirmed that AquaSplash will become part of the Active
programme. This means the facility will be managed directly by the Government, rather than by
Serco Jersey Limited, who currently runs the site.
This decision follows a detailed review of how to efficiently operate the leisure provision on the Island. The Government has been working closely with Serco Jersey Limited throughout this
process, and Serco has been fully supportive of this decision.
The change is being made to give the Government greater control in managing rising costs
across the Island and streamline services with the other facilities managed by Active.
The Minister for Infrastructure, Constable Andy Jehan, said:
“I am pleased to welcome AquaSplash into the family of our Government of Jersey Sport
facilities from next October. This change will deliver better value for taxpayers and ensure that
the AquaSplash can continue to operate as normal and serve the public. We know this news
may be worrying for AquaSplash staff, and we want to reassure them that we’re committed to
supporting them where we can. We’ll work closely with Serco Jersey Limited as we look for
opportunities for staff who wish to join the Government of Jersey team.”
A spokesperson for Serco said:
“We are disappointed to be leaving AquaSplash after almost 25 successful years in Jersey, yet
fully understand the need for the Government of Jersey to deliver operational efficiencies in its
leisure facilities. We are very proud of our achievements over this time in improving the health
and wellbeing of the local communities and will continue to work in partnership with GoJ for a
smooth transition in 2026.”
Active already runs four other swimming pools across Jersey. Adding AquaSplash to the
programme will help create a more joined-up service, using the team’s existing experience and
resources.
The Government will continue to share updates as the transition moves forward over the next
12 months.
