The Council of Ministers welcomes the States Assembly’s decision to approve the Budget.
The Budget reflects the Government’s commitment to balance and responsibility, delivering
measures that support Islanders today while preparing for future challenges.
The measures approved will enable the Government to deliver on its priorities for
Islanders, which include:
- Putting Islanders first – This budget is about making life better for Islanders today –
more support for families, better healthcare, and help with the cost of living
- Investing in health and care – We’re putting £28 million into healthcare to improve
services and make sure Islanders get the care they need when they need it
- Supporting families – We’re expanding free childcare and investing in children’s
services because supporting families is one of our top priorities
- Building for the future – Over the next four years, we’re investing £1 billion in Jersey’s
infrastructure – a new hospital, better roads, and modern public services
- Sports & leisure – We’re investing £43 million to regenerate Fort Regent and provide the
Island with much needed sports and leisure facilities
- Keeping taxes fair – We’ve increased tax allowances and kept duties stable on
everyday essentials like fuel and alcohol to keep more money in Islanders’ pockets and
help with the cost of living.
The Minister for Treasury and Resources, Deputy Elaine Millar, said: “This Budget is about
balance, responsibility, and ambition for Jersey’s future. It protects Islanders from tax rises,
invests in health, housing, childcare, and infrastructure, and strengthens our reserves for the
challenges ahead. These are not just numbers, they are real choices that put Islanders first
today while preparing for tomorrow.
“I want to thank Members for their constructive contributions throughout this debate. Together,
we have shaped a Budget that builds a stronger, fairer, and more sustainable Island – not just
for this generation, but for those to come."
