10 April 2026
Performers are invited to register their interest in taking part in the Corn Riots 2026 celebration, taking place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September.
The Corn Riots commemorate the dramatic events of 1769, when Islanders rose up against unfair economic and political conditions, marching on the Royal Court to demand change. This pivotal moment led to major democratic reforms in Jersey’s government. Today, the Corn Riots are marked with an annual festival that brings the community together through live performance, music, reenactment, and celebration of Jersey’s culture and identity.
This event is organised by the Parish of St Helier, and interest is welcomed from performers across all disciplines who would like to help bring this important moment in Jersey’s history to life.
Those interested have until Friday 22 May to submit an Expression of Interest by emailing creativeisland@gov.je.
A link to the email, along with full event details, is available at Corn Riots Festival.
