A man has been sentenced in the Royal Court today in relation to the importation of 30 grams of heroin.
On 7 May 2026 a letter packet was intercepted by the Jersey Customs & Immigration Service, JCIS, at Jersey Post Headquarters and found to contain 30 grams of heroin that had been vacuum packed.
As the result of a JCIS covert operation the following day, 37 year old Luis Nunes was arrested having taken receipt of a substitute parcel at a St Helier address. Investigations showed that the address the heroin had been sent to was a previous address of Nunes’.
The heroin seized has a maximum street value of £13,500.
Nunes was sentenced today to a five-year prison sentence.
Senior Manager at the Jersey Customs & Immigration Service, Luke Goddard said: “A ‘deal’ of heroin can be sold as one tenth of a gram, so whilst 30 grams may seem to be a relatively small volume, this amount had the potential to be distributed widely. JCIS continues to prioritise seizing harmful Class A drugs and prosecute those responsible for importing them.”
