About the consultation

Your views and election experiences are being sought to help inform recommendations for improvements to the way we prepare and hold public elections.

The Privileges and Procedures Committee appointed a Sub Committee to examine and make recommendations for amendments to the Public Elections Law.

This Sub Committee has been reviewing the Law and has consulted a number of groups directly involved with the administration of public elections.

The Sub Committee would now like to hear from you on your experiences of voting in 2011, and on ways in which you think the Law can be improved.

The questions cover, amongst other things, improvements to the registration of electors, ease of voting, access for disabled, the value of nominations meetings, pre poll and postal voting.

The questionnaire is quite short, and there is space at the end for you to add any additional comments you wish to make. When all the responses have been received, the Sub Committee will present its report this summer to the Privileges and Procedures Committee for action. The Committee intends to bring forward amendments to the Law in good time for the next elections in 2014.

Public meeting dates

Wednesday 20 June 2012 at the Town Hall at 7pm.
