About the consultation

The Water Management Plan for Jersey 2017-2021 (The Water Plan) is a five year plan to maintain and improve the status of the water environment in Jersey.

Two new orders under Part 3 of the Water Pollution (Jersey) Law, 2000 are being proposed by the Minister for the Environment as part of this work.

This is a formal notice under Article 10 of the Water Pollution (Jersey) Law, 2000.

The orders

The two orders are as follows:

Water Pollution (Water Quality)(Jersey) Order 201-
An Order under Article 12 of the Water Pollution (Jersey) Law, 2000 (as amended) relating to Water Quality. This will set the objectives for water quality that were set out in the Water Plan.

Water Pollution (Water Management)(Jersey) Order 201-
An Order under Article 14 of the Water Pollution (Jersey) Law, 2000 (as amended) relating to Water Management. The restrictions and requirements were outlined in the Water Plan and will apply in respect of any person who imports, sells, purchases, stores or uses any fertilizer in the course of a business activity or operation in any Water Management Area designated by this Order.

No decisions will be made by the Minister until the time limits for making comments have elapsed.

Any person who wishes to comment on the proposal should do so in writing to the Minister at the address or email.
