About the consultation

We have developed proposals for new fire safety regulations for taller blocks of flats (known in the regulations as ‘tall residential buildings’).

The regulations are being proposed following recommendations made by:

  • the Grenfell Tower Phase One inquiry report to the UK Government
  • a set of regulations being introduced in England in 2023

In Jersey, there has been a voluntary scheme in place for tall residential buildings to comply with the English regulations since 2024. The Minister wants to make these requirements mandatory.

All responses will be fully considered when deciding on the best way to proceed.
