About the consultation
Transport and Technical Services is responsible for delivering the States of Jersey’s Sustainable Transport Policy, which includes improving pedestrian facilities and safety.
We're currently preparing proposals to provide traffic calming and improved pedestrian facilities on Rue de Haut in St Lawrence.
The proposed changes provide a footpath:
- with a minimum width of 1.2m along Rue de Haut from the access road to Kincaid Gardens to the boundary of Bel Royal School where the existing road side footpath widens out
- that will be constructed from block paving at the same level as the road, with a defined edge protected by wooden bollards at approximately 20m intervals
- that has an open drainage channel block on the road side to guide rainwater to the gullies
The road will remain open to traffic in both directions, but west bound traffic will be required to give way to east bound traffic. Vehicles will give way by driving over the block paving between the bollards. This manoeuvre will reduce vehicle speeds in both directions.
These works are likely to take place during the Easter school holidays in 2014.
We would like to hear any comments that you have on these proposals.
