The Commissioning team
The Commissioning team are part of the Government of Jersey. We work across departments and with partners to plan, fund, and improve services that support Islanders’ health and wellbeing.
Our role
We work in meaningful partnerships with others to achieve better outcomes and experiences for Islanders no matter where they live or what their circumstances are.
We do this by:
- understanding what Islanders need
- designing services that meet those needs
- using resources wisely
- checking how services perform and making them better
Commissioning is more than buying services. It’s about shaping them to work well for everyone, we:
- move resources to where they’re most needed
- help Islanders live their best lives
- work with charities, providers, and communities
- design services with the people who use them
Commissioning across government departments
Each government department commissions services separately guided by a shared Commissioning Framework. This ensures a consistent approach that supports the Government of Jersey’s Common Strategic Policy (2024 to 2026), which outlines the priorities all departments align to.
Each government department commissions services relevant to their area of responsibility:
- Health and Care Jersey leads on health and community services commissioning
- Public Health commissions services to improve population health and prevent illness
- Children, Young People, Education and Skills commissions services including early years support, education, youth activities, family services, and care for children who need extra support
- Justice and Home Affairs commissions services related to justice and community safety
- Employment, Social Security and Housing commissions services that support employment, income, and housing needs
