About Bureau des Iles Anglo-Normandes (BIAN)

The Bureau des Iles Anglo-Normandes (BIAN) opened in Caen in June 2014.

BIAN promotes political, economical, cultural, educational and operational links between the Channel Islands and France.

Role of Bureau des Iles Anglo-Normandes (BIAN)

BIAN's key objectives are to:

  • strengthen and build on links between the governments of Jersey, Guernsey and France, at regional and national levels
  • create opportunities for economic, environmental, linguistic, educational, cultural and sporting cooperation and exchange
  • help France and the Channel Islands to work together, eg energy, emergency planning, environmental matters, search and rescue, customs and police, transport, agricultural research, education and tourism
  • raise awareness of the Channel Islands' histories, cultures, natural beauty, economies and international relations
