Request

A

I would like to know the name of the 'company / organiser' who was behind the Roller Rink which was held in Weighbridge Square in March?

B

I would also like to know how much rent was paid by the Roller Rink company to the Jersey Development Company (JDC) to hire out Weighbridge Square.

C

I would also like to know if it's policy for JDC staff to be fully involved in the day to day running of events that are held at Weighbridge Square. For example, taking the Roller Rink, should JDC staff be involved in the building, the set-up, hiring in marquee companies, running rosters for staff working in the event and being the main or first point of contact for all staff working on the site?

D

Is it policy for the Jersey Development Company to not only rent the Weighbridge land to an outside organiser, but on top of that rent, also charge local concessions on site rent, who have been asked by the 'outside organisers' to be part of the event?

E

How much rent is the JDC charging the Arctic Village organisers to hire the Weighbridge Square this November, December and January?

Response

All Scheduled Public Authorities (SPAs) are separate legal entities for the purposes of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011. The Central Freedom of Information Unit disseminates Freedom of Information requests to the most relevant SPAs. In respect of this request, as shareholder of the States of Jersey Development Company, Treasury and Resources is the most appropriate department to handle and respond to your request.

As shareholder, it only holds a certain amount of information regarding its shareholding companies. The information which you are requesting is not the type of information which Treasury and Resources holds, nor is it held on our behalf by the States of Jersey Development Company, as there is no legitimate reason why, as a shareholder, the department would either request that information or need it.

Treasury and Resources does not hold this information therefore Article 10 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies (see below).

The States of Jersey Development Company does not fall under the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011. However, there is nothing preventing you from addressing your request directly to it.

Freedom of Information Law (Jersey) Law 2011

(1) Subject to paragraph (2), if –
