Some of the information requested is already publicly available and, although we have provided links to assist the requester in finding the information, it is technically exempt under Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.

States members pay (FOI)

Under the Standing Orders of the States of Jersey, elected member’s must register any gifts / hospitality which has a monetary value greater than 1% of their current remuneration figure and this is published under the member’s declaration of interest – the Chief Minister’s is available here:

Under the Code of Conduct for Ministers and Assistant Ministers any gifts, hospitality or other benefits over the monetary value of £40 should be recorded in a Departmental gift register. Please see below the register for the Chief Minister for 2015 and 2016.

Article 23 - Information accessible to applicant by other means

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it is reasonably available to the applicant, otherwise than under this Law, whether or not free of charge.

(2) A scheduled public authority that refuses an application for information on this ground must make reasonable efforts to inform the applicant where the applicant may obtain the information.
