Emails between Senator Farnham and the Chief Minister (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 21 June 2017.

Request

On the 13 December in 2016 the States Assembly debated and voted on the 2017 Budget (P.109/2016).

Deputy Russell Labey lodged an amendment regarding the level of alcohol duty.

Senator Lyndon Farnham was not present in the Chamber for the vote on that amendment. He stated in a media interview that he chose not to take part in the vote due to the interest he has in a local hotel which sells alcohol and that his decision to do so was privately endorsed by the Chief Minister.

Could you please provide any email correspondence between Senator Farnham and the Chief Minister regarding this decision to not take part in that States vote?

Response

A search of email correspondence was undertaken in respect of the above request. The result of which found no data to be held on the subject of Senator Lyndon Farnham choosing not to take part in the vote as described.
