Since 2006, how many SOJP officers have been investigated for Data Offences?

What were their Ranks and what was the outcome of the Investigations?
How or who dealt with the offences?

Response

Thirteen police officers have faced investigation and/or court or police disciplinary hearings for data protection/misuse of computer matters since 2006. The matters are dealt with according to the severity of the perceived offence.

​Jul 06  ​PC​Words of advice from Deputy Chief Officer (DCO). Moved from department.
​May 07 ​DC ​Words of advice given to the officer. Letter to AG advising that the complaint had been recorded as substantiated and action under the discipline provisions had been taken.
​June 07 ​PC ​Matter dealt with at Magistrates court, Fined £300. Resigned from the service
​Apr 08  ​PC​Officer advised that the complaint is withdrawn. No further action.
​Aug 08 ​UK ​Report submitted to Acting Chief Officer about unauthorised leak of information to the press. Suspect not identified. Insufficient evidence to proceed with investigation.
​Mar 09  ​SGT​Recorded as substantiated. Officer given formal words of advice by A/DCO.
​Mar 10  ​DC​Matter dealt with at Magistrates Court. Officer fined £300. Required to resign at discipline hearing. Reinstated on appeal.
​Sep 11 ​PC ​Discipline hearing in front of Chief Officer. Reprimanded.
​Nov 11  ​PC​Retired prior to discipline hearing. Following advice from Law Officers, no criminal action taken.
​Dec 11 ​Insp ​Retired during discipline investigation. No further action taken.
​Jan 12  ​PC​Convicted at Magistrate's Court: fined. Dismissed following a discipline hearing. Reinstated on appeal.
​Jun 12  ​PC​Warned to appear before the Magistrate's Court. Proceedings withdrawn. Dismissed after disciplinary hearing. Appeal against finding failed but appeal against sanction upheld. Sanction amended to a decrease in salary by two increments. Reinstated.
​Sep 12  ​SGT​Matter referred to Law Office’s Department. – No charges brought.
Appeared at discipline hearing before CO, reduced in rank
