Request

In a recent News article regarding the Forts Swimming Pool area it was said that plans have already been put in place once the site has been cleared.

I quote 'we have had discussions both with the civil servants and with the politicians and we’re hopefully going to come up with a refreshing idea'

A
Can you confirm what these plans are if any are in place; and

B
What so far has been spent on coming to this stage regarding the Swimming Pools demolition?

Response

A
A political steering group has been set up, chaired by the Chief Minister, to oversee the future plans for Fort Regent. Officers are currently carrying out an option assessment process regarding the long term future use of the Fort.

We envisage this work continuing for a number of months before recommendations are made to the Committee in the summer.

B
£250,327.73 has been spent on the swimming pool demolition project to date.
