Request

A

How many discrimination complaints have been made by people employed by the government for the years, 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016?

B

What has the complaint been regarding? eg race, gender and so on?

C

What was the outcome of the complaints?

Response

A to C

Between 2016 and July 2019 the Government of Jersey received nine discrimination complaints which were raised by people employed by the Government of Jersey and centrally logged. These would not relate to discrimination by members of the public.

These related to:

  • sex

  • age

  • race

  • disability

  • sexual Orientation

Due to the very small numbers involved, details of how many of these complaints related to which of the above areas and their outcomes are exempt under Article 25 (Personal Information) of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 as such information could potentially identify individuals.

Exemption applied

Article 25 Personal information

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

(2) Information is absolutely exempt information if –

(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018; and

(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.
