Charity sleepover costs at HMP La Moye (FOI)

Charity sleepover costs at HMP La Moye (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 27 May 2020.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

I would like a list of all the work, and costs including overtime, that was done at the prison to prepare for the recent visit by dignitaries for the charity sleepover.

Response

The prisoner accommodation used for the Jail to Bail event was due for planned improvements, however this work was advanced to accommodate the Charity event. These costs, therefore, do not form part of this response as they were not commissioned to facilitate the event. The accommodation is now being used to house prisoners as part of the wider prison estate:

Other Costs include:

Catering Requirements

12 x Lunch Meals

 £220

12 x Evening Meals
Buffet 25/30 heads
4 x Staff Meals
Canteen£28.59
Total £248.59

Man hours

Engineers - 40 hours

Senior Officer - 15 hours (of which 13 hrs given as time off in lieu (Toil))

Prison Officer (Residential) - 31.75 hrs (of which 13 hrs given in Toil)

Prison Officer (Operations) - 34.75 hrs (of which 11.25 hrs @ 1.5 Overtime and 13.25 hrs given in Toil)

Civil Servant - Grade 6 x 3 hrs

In addition, there were four planning meetings held at approximately one hour duration for members of the Prison Management team, Government Communications Department and the representative of the Charity. It should be noted that in addition to the above, Prison Officers also gave up their own time to ensure this event was successful.
