Request

I've been unable to see anything in the Safe Exit Plan in any level for when

  • barbers and hairdressers can open

  • dentists can open

  • chiropractors can open

Please can I have sight of any document (or a link to) any document which deals with this.

Response

We are currently at Level 3 of Jersey’s Safe Exit Framework. At level 3, businesses must not offer services that involve close personal contact, unless it is an essential service, emergency or urgent situation.

Within level 3, dental practices will start to reopen from Monday 1 June for Islanders needing urgent or essential dental treatment. Please find more information at the following link:

Dental practices permitted to reopen

At level 2 of the Safe Exit Framework:

  • healthcare and dental practices may resume, following professional body guidelines.

  • other services that involve close personal contact may begin to open where they are able to follow strict sector-specific guidelines. (This may include hairdressers, barbers, beauty and nail salons, including piercing and tattoo parlours, laser and cosmetic clinics delivering non-essential cosmetic treatments).

No date has yet been attributed to when Level 2 of the Safe Exit Framework will be reached, however, Ministers are committed to removing restrictions as early as it is safe to do so. Throughout Level 3, the impact of the relaxation measures on the spread of COVID-19 will be closely monitored and the pace at which new measures are introduced will be informed by medical assessment of the potential risks.
