Individuals choosing to self-isolate rather than test for Covid-19 (FOI)

Individuals choosing to self-isolate rather than test for Covid-19 (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 16 September 2020.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

A previous FOI request said: "The Government of Jersey records all individuals who do not undertake a PCR test, however, we are unable to provide a breakdown of the number solely relating to travellers as our figures include those not tested for medical reasons and children under the age of 11."
How many individuals have chosen to self-isolate for the timeframe (currently 14 days) instead of taking a swab test since Safe Travel Borders opening began?
Why are statistics on travellers over the age of 11 and without medical reasons who choose to self isolate not kept?

Response

Since the issuance of the previous Freedom of Information response referenced, we have improved our IT systems, in order to enable extraction of the requested data.
Since introduction of Safer Travel on 3 July we have received 89 requests to self-isolate rather than undergo a swab test on arrival into Jersey.
Such information is collated, however we do not publish the data as part of Government statistics.
