I refer to the following scheme:

Request permission not to self-isolate for work purposes (critical workers)

Please could you provide usage details of the covid-19 isolation exemption scheme for those arriving in Jersey?

Specifically:

Number of people using it

B

Reason for people using it

C

If exempt for work, please specify the users role and industry

D

Date in which it was used

Ideally, the data would extend from the start of the exemption scheme to the date of answering. However, if not possible please provide the data for the October half term 2020.

Response

A

257 work exemptions have been processed between 26 October and 15 November 2020.

Of these, 163 were approved, 94 were rejected.

B

The significant majority of requests are for ‘critical worker’ exemptions, with others for compassionate or medical / health reasons.

C

Hundreds of requests have been received from various roles and multiple industries. The vast majority from the construction sector, with other requests from sectors:

  • healthcare

  • agriculture

  • animal Welfare

  • finance

  • mechanic

D

These exemptions have been requested since 26 October 2020.
