Voluntary PCR testing of students (FOI)

Voluntary PCR testing of students (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 27 January 2021.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

What number of eligible students participated in the voluntary PCR testing offered up to midnight on 10 January 2021? I would like to know this as a percentage of those eligible or to know how many were eligible and how many participated.

I would also like to know the positive / negative breakdown.

Response

1,510 students aged 15 to 18 year olds were tested between 1 January and 10 January 2021 (this excludes inbound travel, seeking healthcare and contact tracing).

This represents 54% of the eligible pupil population.

All students in Year 11 to Year 13 were eligible.

Four students tested positive for COVID-19.
