Electric vehicle charging points (FOI)

Electric vehicle charging points (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 29 December 2021.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

Follow up questions to Freedom of Information request: Installation of electric vehicle charging points (FOI)

From Response A: Please could you clarify how many electric vehicle charging points have been put in new States Residential Dwellings over the last three years?  As from our understanding the site at Les Quennevais school is simply used for educational purposes not residential.

From Response B: Please could you confirm how many installations of electric charging points have you insisted upon, as part of an approved development of residential or private accommodation over the last three years?

Response

The Government of Jersey (GOJ) have not installed any electric vehicle charging points in any new GOJ residential dwellings over the last three years.

Further information may be held by Andium Homes Limited in relation to affordable housing projects for the requested period, therefore, you might wish to send your request in writing to Andium Homes Limited.

The GOJ have not insisted upon the installation of any electric vehicle charging since there is currently no Bye-law requirement that legislates for charging points to be included as part of new developments.

However, electric charging points are routinely negotiated into private and public schemes at the planning stage, but the Planning and Building section do not maintain a list of the number of charging points included within planning applications.

Planning decisions from 2012 to date are accessible through the on-line planning register at: Planning application search, should you wish to carry out your own search.
