The courses that are delivered in partnership with universities or awarding bodies are subject to a minimum number of participants. The number of course participants is known once applicants receive their A level results (or equivalent qualification) in August. Highlands College reviews each course and the number of applications at the earliest opportunity in February or March, once most applications have been submitted.

Decisions about the minimum student numbers are not governed by academic regulations. Higher Education providers make decisions about the viability of courses based on their own locally specific requirements.

Highlands College have not had to stop teaching a validated two or three-year programme mid-stage through the course. Courses are evaluated prior to the commencement of a two or three year programme or a stage 6 top up programme.
