Summary
This annual report summarises:
- attainment in GCSE’s and equivalent qualifications by pupils in Jersey
- the progress that pupils have made by the end of secondary school based upon their achievements at the end of primary school
Results of pupils in all schools in Jersey (both States and private) are collated to provide a picture of Island-wide performance. Results are also broken down by pupil characteristics:
- gender
- English as a first language
- English as an additional language (EAL)
In the 2013 / 2014 academic year:
- a similar proportion of pupils attained 5 or more GCSEs at grade A* to C (in any subject) to in the previous year
- a greater proportion of pupils attained 5 or more GCSEs at grade A* to C including English and mathematics than in 2012 to 2013
- an increase was recorded in the proportion of pupils attaining a grade A* to C in English and mathematics GCSEs
- pupil progress in English (between the end of primary school and end of secondary school) was higher than in the previous year
- a greater proportion of pupils made the expected amount of progress in mathematics than in English
