Summary

As part of the 2008 Integrated Coastal Zone Management Strategy it was clear that a report looking into the development of an aquaculture for Jersey was required paying particular attention to improving the management of the RAMSAR’s sites in the Island.

 This report looks at the development of aquaculture in Jersey from various vantages, including:

  • sustainable and responsible development that also considers other marine stakeholders
  • aquaculture production which does not have an adverse impact on the marine environment
  • an aquaculture policy that should be relevant for 10 to 50 years with a review period every 5 years
