Child Development and Therapy Centre services

About the Child Development and Therapy Centre

The Child Development and Therapy Centre offers a comprehensive assessment, treatment, diagnostic and family support service to children with complex developmental and / or health needs from birth to 18 years of age. 

Referrals

All referrals for multi-agency input from the Child Development and Therapy Centre come from one of the Consultant Paediatricians.

Professionals within the Child Development and Therapy Centre include:

  • Physiotherapists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Family Care Coordinators
  • Social Workers
  • Community Short Break Development Officer

The Child Development and Therapy Centre also has strong links with:

  • Consultant Paediatricians
  • Children’s Service
  • Education Department
  • Family Nursing and Home Care
  • Dietitians

Team Around the Child approach

The Child Development and Therapy Centre uses the ‘Team Around the Child’ (TAC) approach. This involves Parents/Carers and other key professionals working as part of a team around an individual child or young person.

Some members of the TAC will be involved for longer periods whilst some will only be part of the team for a short time. Each child or young person will always have one member of the multi-agency team who acts as their lead worker to support the child and family in coordinating care.

The Child Development and Therapy Centre also provides outpatients appointments for patients of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy.
