Applying for Telecare
Telecare is an emergency alarm and remote monitoring system to help people live safely and independently at home.
The Telecare service uses:
- alarm pendants worn on your body that allows you to speak directly to a Care Navigator
- sensors, including fall detection, smart plugs, seizure monitors and environmental devices
- GPS location tracking
- Braille on buttons and other aids if you’re visually or hearing impaired
You can customise your Telecare package based on your specific needs.
Apply for Telecare
If you need assistance filling out the form, want to request a demonstration or ask further questions, contact the Care Navigation team:
After you’ve applied for the Telecare service, we’ll arrange for a technician to visit your home to install the devices you’ve chosen.
They will also give you a demonstration to show you how the systems work.
Telecare can benefit you if you:
- are vulnerable
- are elderly
- have physical or learning disabilities
- have long-term conditions or complex needs
Keyholders and key safes
A keyholder is someone you assign to help you in the case of an alarm being activated in your home. They may be called at any time, day or night by a Care Navigator, and asked to visit you to check on your wellbeing.
You should have at least 2 keyholders.
If you only have 1 keyholder or no keyholders available, then you must have a key safe installed for emergency services to gain access.
Key safes
You can install your own key safe or have it installed as part of the Telecare installation, which costs an additional one-time payment of ÂŁ50.
You can also give access to your friends and family to monitor your activities on their smartphone or computer. There are no cameras on the devices.
How Digital Telecare works
If you press your alarm pendant or an alarm is triggered by one of the sensors, the Care Navigators will:
- assess the situation and contact you through your unit
- contact your nominated keyholders or the emergency services if you are unable to talk to them
The Care Navigator team are available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to make sure you have immediate support.
All in-home alarms come with a backup battery. They work for up to 24 hours in case there’s a power cut. The devices can also be used to report on daily activities, which are available through the app or by contacting us.
