After graduating from the Royal College of Surgeons in 1979 Martyn worked as a Consultant ENT/ Facial Plastic Surgeon in Liverpool from 1991.
He has undertaken additional training in London, Boston, San Francisco, Sydney and Los Angeles.
He has been a Consultant ENT/ Facial Plastic Surgeon at Jersey General Hospital since 1996.
