We are a 16 bed acute medical ward and treat a wide variety of medical conditions, including stroke.

Parking is available in Patriotic Street car park.

Disabled facilities

The nearest parking areas for disabled drivers is in front of the main building and Patriotic Street car park. There is a lift and disabled toilet facilities on Corbiere Ward. 

What to expect

As a patient on Corbiere Ward we support you with our 24 hour nursing care.

Meals and nutrition

Having a healthy balanced diet and good fluid intake is of vital importance to your recovery from illness.

Our mealtimes are:

  • breakfast, 8am to 8.30am
  • morning tea, 9.30am to 10am
  • lunch, 12.45pm to 1.45pm
  • afternoon tea, 2.30pm
  • supper, 5.30pm to 6.30pm
  • evening drink, 8.30pm to 9pm

We provide fresh drinking water, which is changed regularly during the day.

What to bring

Bring comfortable walking shoes, loose casual clothes, nightwear and necessary toiletries. We encourage you to wear your usual clothes during the day and to sit out of bed if you are able. It’s helpful if you could have your clothing labelled with your name.

You need to ensure that your visitors or family check for laundry daily and bring fresh clothes regularly as we don’t have a laundry facilities.

Your discharge

We aim to discharge you by 11am on the day of discharge. We give you 7 days supply of your medication. Any further supplies can be obtained from your GP. A discharge summary and list of your medications are sent to your GP.

If you are due to have an outpatient appointment, this will be sent to you in the post after your discharge.

You can contact us at any time from Monday to Sunday. If we’re with patients, we cannot always answer the phone straight away, so try again later.

Patient confidentiality is essential. There are occasions when we're unable to share information. Contact the ward manager if you need to discuss this
