​If you are currently a patient of the Rheumatology department and have any concerns about your current treatment or care, contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) from Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

Coronavirus COVID-19 information

If you test positive for COVID-19, you may need antiviral treatment within the first 5 days of a positive lateral flow test (LFT). Contact your GP as soon as possible for advice, and for them to make an assessment to determine if you need antiviral medication.

You may also need to stop some of your treatments. Steroids should not be stopped suddenly.  Contact the Rheumatology team or your GP for advice.

Blood tests (phlebotomy service​)

​​The Hospital’s Phlebotomy Department (Blood Tests) is located at the General Hospital. It's open from 8.30am to 3.45pm from Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 12.45pm on Friday.

Blood tests are normally ordered on the computer system and it is the patients responsibility to book  your tests at the frequency advised by your nurse or doctor. 

You need a timed appointment for the Hospital Phlebotomy Department. Call them on +44 (0) 1534 442223 to arrange this.

Our service

The Rheumatology Service aims to provide comprehensive, individual care for patients with inflammatory arthritis.

We are based at the Enid Quenault Health and Wellbeing Centre

We offer the following services:

  • specialist service for patients with all types of rheumatological conditions
  • monitoring and management service for new patients with inflammatory arthritis
  • assessment and monitoring of patients undergoing biologic therapies
  • a telephone advice helpline for patients and families
  • podiatry service, based at the Jersey General Hospital. Referral is required from a medical professional
  • occupational therapy. Referral is required from a medical professional

If you are experiencing side effects or problems, contact your GP. 

Self-management

The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society has a self-management programme called SMILE-RA. It is aimed at newly diagnosed patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Leave your repeat prescription request on our answerphone. We will not call you back from this number but your request will be actioned. Your prescription will be ready for collection from Pharmacy in 7 days' time.

Local charities and supp​ort groups

There are a few local charities and support groups that can help.

Pain Support Jersey

Pain Support's aim is to offer help to people suffering with persistent pain and to guide and promote the understanding of pain in the community, whilst helping their members to manage chronic pain and live fulfilling lives.  

They offer gentle exercise sessions, led by pain specialists, in Coronation Park at Millbrook every Tuesday and Friday, 10am to 10.45am and 11am to 11.45am.

Pain Support Jersey

National Ankylosing Spondyliti​s ​​Society (NASS)

This group runs hydrotherapy and gym sessions on Monday from 4.30pm to 5.30pm at the Jersey General Hospital. Each session costs £6. Email kcadinart@icloud.com or find out more information on the NASS website.
