Safe operation of skip and hook loaders (ACoP 12)

The Approved Code of Practice (ACoP), ‘The Safe Operation of Skip and Hook Loaders’ came into force on the 1st November 2018.

The Code provides practical guidance on how to address the well-recognised dangers associated with skip and hook loaders during skip operations.

The ACoP also sets out the standards relating to:

  • the inspection, examination and maintenance of vehicles and lifting equipment
  • the training and assessment of competence of skip operators
