Accidents and dangerous occurrences records

There is no legal requirement to keep a record of accidents or dangerous occurrences, however, businesses are strongly recommended to do so. It can assist in identifying recurring problems and may be helpful should a civil claim arise from the incident.

Accident books

Copies of the 'Accident Record Book' are available to collect, free of charge, from the Health and Safety Inspectorate at Maritime House.

It can also be downloaded, print page three to obtain individual record sheets.

Accident notification

An accident notification form can also be downloaded and used to report any accidents to the Health and Safety Inspectorate should you wish to do so.

Alternatively you may use the form as part of your in-house procedures for recording or investigating accidents.
