Draft Restriction on Smoking (Workplaces) (Jersey) Regulations 2006

These regulations prohibit smoking in a workplace if the workplace is enclosed by a roof and is surrounded, for more than 50% or its perimeter, by walls and similar structures. The regulations set out limits on and exemptions from this prohibition.

Restriction on Smoking (Vending Machines) (Jersey) Regulations 2006

New regulations have recently been introduced relating to tobacco vending machines and sales of cigarettes to children.

These regulations describe how:

  • a vending machine may be installed and state that such vending machines must be placed in a part of premises that enable staff to observe all persons using that vending machine
  • tobacco vending machines must not operate so as to permit the purchase of cigarette or tobacco products to those under the age of 18
  • when an event is staged exclusively for persons who are under 18 years of age the vending machine must not operate
  • display notices must be permanently fixed in a prominent position to the vending machine stating that it is prohibited for a person under the age of 18 to use a vending machine to purchase cigarettes or tobacco

Contravention of these regulations may result in a fine of up to £2,000.

Restriction on Smoking (Cigarettes to Children) (Amendment No 2) (Jersey) Regulations 2006

These regulations prohibit the sale of cigarettes to persons under the age of 18.

Contravention of these regulations may result in a fine of up to £2,000.
