About our service
The knacker's yard provides a carcase disposal service and pre-planned humane destruction of cull livestock, including:
Culling is carried out when our workload allows and may be some days after you notify us.
The knacker's yard is not a service to ease animal welfare problems.
You should leave carcasses covered to prevent scavenging and in a position easily accessible for our staff to collect.
If your animal needs immediate or urgent destruction, you must make sure this is done in a suitable time scale. You should either request your vet's services or destroy the animal yourself. If you destroy the animal yourself, you must hold a valid slaughter licence and firearms certificate issued by your parish.
