Health services

You should register yourself and your family with a GP surgery once you've arrived. In Jersey, GP surgeries are private businesses, so you'll have to pay when you need to see them. Fees vary, and there may be additional charges for services like injections and blood tests.

You may also want to consider the location of the practice and doctor's specialist areas when deciding on which GP to register with. They can arrange for your medical records to be transferred from your previous GP surgery outside of Jersey.

Once you’ve lived in the island for 6 months, you can get a health card. This gives you discounted GP costs. You will still have to pay for the rest of the cost of the visit.

Your health card only applies to GP visits and prescriptions. It does not give you access to free or discounted health care at the hospital or elsewhere.
